A big few days begins for ADI’s rescued circus lions at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary.

13939443_10155156389839358_7022405656562277480_nAs we get all the lions ready to roam in their large enclosures, a huge program of veterinary work is underway to put right the damage from years of abuse with the circus. Here, the team arrives ready to dart Junior (from Peru).

This is a vital part of Phase 2 of the ADI Spirit of Freedom Rescue that saw over 100 animals rescued in Peru and Colombia and 33 lions flown home to Africa.

Can you help?

Special thanks to: Dr Peter Caldwell of Old Chapel Veterinary Clinic overseeing all veterinary procedures in the rehabilitation of the lions; Dr Gerhard Steenkamp, veterinary dentist and co-founder of savingthesurvivors.org; Dr Brendan Tindall, co-founder of thewildspirit.com.
